I would like to start by learning it myself through blogs/youtube/online docs but I cant seem to find any solid information that goes deep into it. I took a look at advanced installer and very quickly realized that MSI is a huge and complicated technology, I am not afraid of learning it and I would like to but I am having some difficulty finding the resources to do so. Our devs refuse to build an installer themselves because their plate is full and its super low priority so I decided to take it upon myself to do so.
I would like to deploy this using SCCM and I have several powershell scripts to automate it through sccm but it doesn't feel official and I need something pretty that I can give our remote sales staff to install it themselves. Right now the install process involves manually copying files to a directory, creating a share, registering a service, manually editing several XML files, and initializing a postgresql database. This software is complicated and a lot can go wrong with installing it. I work for a software company and we have a new product that is not finished yet but beta versions need to get rolled out to our sales and support staff. I know this question has been asked before but the answers really are not helping.
